Recommended for those who have never studied flamenco or very little or wants to get familiar with La Tania's technique. Beginning II Technique After taking the Beginning I class this would be the next class recommended. It is highly recommended to take this class in addition to Beginning II choreography. This class has guitar accompaniment.

Mainly choreographies are taught in the traditional form, which is basic in learning this art form. The student must have had at least one year of intensive flamenco dance experience. Bata de Cola
A Bata de Cola is a long train dress used in flamenco dance. Only intermediate to advanced levels should take this class. The dancer must have adequate flamenco dance training since another element is being added thus making it more difficult to master the dance in a Bata de Cola. You must own a bata de cola to take this class.
Bulerias por Fiesta Bulerías is one of the most complex palos (rhythms). This class develops improvisational skills and a good sense of flamenco style. This class is designed to train dancers to interact with the guitarist and singer in a spontaneous way. Steps and structure are taught so the dancers have a base to work off. Eventually, the students learn how to organize their own dance on the spot and improvise interpreting the cante (song). This gives the students the skills to really listen to the guitar and singing, which will also be useful for an overall understanding of how this art form works in general. A flamenco dancer must always have bulerías in their repertoire to perform. Bulerías originated as a festive dance. It continues to be the highlight of fiestas or juergas. This class is not recommended for beginners.
Performance Opportunities
La Tania Baile Flamenco School
In 2007 after 25 years of dedicating her life to touring La Tania decided to settle in the Bay Area and begin a life dedicated to sharing her knowledge of the art of flamenco and initiated La Tania Baile Flamenco School. Her aim is to establish a curriculum where her students can get a well rounded training. She teaches her students to have an understanding of form, rhythm, choreography, music awareness, palmas (hand clapping), castanuelas (castanets), improvisation, Bata de Cola (long train dress) as well as performance skills. Her mission is to prepare her students to be able to perform and eventually become professional dancers. La Tania also welcomes dancers that are in it for the joy of dancing for she believes dance is for all to partake in. Flamenco is also a festive and community based art, therefore it’s also an important part of the curriculum.
La Tania creates many performance opportunities for her students as group presentations as well as solo work showcases. In the Spring choreographies are taught from January to June (3 consecutive workshops) that culminate in a student performance. One must take all three sessions to participate in the student show. After the performance there is a break and classes resume in August and go through the fall. La Tania continues to expand and will also be teaching in her Oakland studio as well.
La Tania continues to perform and showcase her work various times throughout the year. She is committed to presenting local dancers in different venues to further advance their careers and to promote and create the presence of this beautiful art form that is Flamenco.
